3/1/2010 - Ken Clark Joins Media Services & ShredTime as Record Center Manager

Experienced Manager Strengthens Team for Kansas City's Only Locally-Owned, Full-Service Record Center.

(Kansas City, MO) - Media Services and ShredTime has named Ken Clark as record center manager for the 14 year old company. Clark is responsible for the security, maintenance, safety and daily operations for two record centers in Greater Kansas City.

Clark brings considerable management experience to Media Services & ShredTime. Prior to joining the team, Clark served as a Regional Sales Manager with Ergo Genesis, L.L.C., an international manufacturer of ergonomically correct office seating and equipment, where he managed a 13 state territory. In less than one year Clark transformed two failing territories by doubling profits and increasing volume over 40 percent. Prior to Ergo Genesis, Clark served as a mortgage lender for First Kansas City Home Lending.

"Ken is an excellent addition to our management team," said Robert Rippentrop, president of Media Services and ShredTime. "His proven experience and expertise adds value to our clients ensuring our consistent quality of service continues."

Clark also served as a regional manager for Aaron Rents, Inc., a retailer of residential and office furniture. Clark was responsible for profit and loss, sales, marketing and operations for branches in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas City, St. Louis, Denver, Huston and Colorado Springs. Here he developed five general managers, achieved corporate profit objectives and successfully managed project logistics including a contract requiring 800 deliveries in 12 days. He received his degree from Central Missouri State University in Business Administration.

2/1/2010 - Media Services Joins Harvesters Community Food Network in the Souper Bowl of Caring

(Kansas City, MO) - Media Services and ShredTime is helping Harvesters Community Food Network reach a goal to raise over 20,000 pounds of food and unite 1,500 volunteers to feed the hungry in our community during the Souper Bowl of Caring event (www.souperbowl.org).

Media Services has volunteered to provide its corporate neighbors in the Hunt Midwest Subtropolis with 96 gallon bins to hold donations and has offered to pick-up and distribute the donations to Harvesters at the end of the food drive. The Media Services team is also contributing by collecting non-perishable food items for donation.

"This is an event that brings our entire staff and corporate neighbors together," said Angie Washington, Vice President of Administration for Media Services and ShredTime. "Each year our goal is to dig deeper into our pockets and increase our donation. I think everyone who participates would agree that it doesn't take much effort to make a big difference."

The Souper Bowl of Caring began as a youth group project and has grown into a national, youth-led event. Since 1990, people of all faiths and ages have joined the Souper Bowl of Caring to raise $28 million for those in need. Donations may be in the form of non-perishable food items or through on-line monetary gifts. The Souper Bowl of Caring Week is held Monday, February 1 and ends on this 44th year of football Super Bowl; Sunday February 7, 2010.

1/4/2010 - Industry Veteran Joins Media Services & ShredTime

Bill Millican's added expertise allows company to launch new RIM consulting practice in Kansas City.

(Kansas City, MO) - Media Services and ShredTime has named RIM (records and information management) industry veteran Bill Millican as account executive. He will be responsible for building relationships with clients, providing record and information management consulting and cultivating new business.

Millican brings more than 30 years of industry experience to Media Services and ShredTime. Prior to joining the team, he was the Director of Operations and Information Technology for ARMA International. ARMA International is a global, not-for-profit professional association that is the leading authority on records and information management.

"We are very pleased that Bill has joined our team," said Robert Rippentrop, president of Media Services and ShredTime. "Bill's extensive industry experience will enable us to continue to provide exceptional service to our customers with expert RIM advice and consulting."

Prior to working for ARMA International, Millican was the director of records and information management for several of the largest law firms in Kansas City. Those law firms are now known as Husch Blackwell Sanders, Stinson Morrison Hecker, Bryan Cave and Polsinelli Shughart. While with these firms Millican served as the official Custodian of Records and managed the entire department which included all RIM procedures, policies, staff, software and budget.

Millican also served as a RIM consultant to Elite Information Systems (nka Thomson Reuter), eSentio Technologies and Syndet Business Technologies. As a RIM consultant, Millican designed, developed and implemented programs for retention and disposition, operational consolidation and management, assessment and improvement, staff balancing and process improvement.

Millican received his masters from the University of Memphis in Business, Education and Music with over 100 hours of post graduate degree work completed.

Media Services is the Only Record Center to Join the Partnership

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services has become a member of the Climate Protection Partnership which was established by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce in 2007. The purpose of the group is for the business community to work together to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions and increase economic competitiveness (www.kcchamber.com/ClimateProtection).

Media Services has committed to several green business strategies, including:

  • Trash is incinerated and reused as slag in concrete
    All trash including destroyed tapes, hard drives, CD's and other media is incinerated and recycled into slag for concrete. Trash generated by Media Services does not contribute to land fills.

  • Motion sensor lights conserve energy
    Motion sensor on/off lights have been installed so that no energy is wasted when not in use. Lights are set to an adjustable timer to shut off when the area is not occupied. Media Services has more than 100 individual light fixtures.

  • Thousands of tons of paper and cardboard recycled annually
    Media Services recycles 1,000's of tons of paper annually through its secure shredding service. All destroyed paper is only sent to U.S. based recycling mills for processing because environmental standards outside of the U.S. are not as strict.

  • Underground Facilities
    Underground facilities use less building materials, conserving natural resources. They also maintain constant temperature and humidity levels creating lower utility usage than above ground facilities.

9/2/2009 - Media Services & ShredTime Launches HIPAA Training Program

Course trains on how to meet and exceed HIPAA regulations & guidelines

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services has implemented a new HIPAA training program for team members through The HIPAA Group (hipaagroup.com) to support continued HIPAA compliance efforts.

The HIPAA Group training course goes over topics such as: Identification Procedures before Giving Access, How to Send Information Securely Electronically, and Top 10 Tips of HIPAA Security. After each team member completes the training they are awarded a certificate of completion. A laminated card with useful HIPAA security reminders is also given to team members for future reference.

8/4/2009 - Robert Rippentrop Appointed to St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Robert Rippentrop, Media Services & ShredTime president, has been named to the 2010 St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors. The position is one of 20 board positions.

The mission of St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation is to support the center through fund raisers and to encourage community involvement. The foundation is governed by a group of committed civic leaders from throughout Kansas City. Their efforts help create needed funds for the center's charitable and healthcare programs. 6/30/2009 - Bob Featherston Appointed to Greater Kansas City ARMA 2009 Board of Directors

Latest Technology Improvement Helps Clients Save Time & Reduce Paperwork

4/3/2009 - Katie Ward Named Sales & Marketing Coordinator

Continued company growth has created demand for new position

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services and ShredTime has named Katie Ward as sales and marketing coordinator for the 13 year old company.

As Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Ward will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the company's business development strategies, building relationships with more than 150 clients and fielding inbound sales calls.

"Katie is an excellent addition to our already strong sales and marketing team," said Robert Rippentrop, president of Media Services and Shred Time. "Her talent and experience adds value to our sales and marketing team that will allow us to build a solid foundation for growth in to the future."

Ward has a strong background in sales and marketing. Prior to joining Media Services she was a branch manager with Vector Marketing in Kansas City, Mo. While at Vector, she received several accolades including Top Sales Woman in her district in 2004 and Top Assistant Manager in her region. She has worked in sales at AT&T and Yellow Book USA.

Ward is a 2008 graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Psychology. While at KU, she was a member of the Public Relations Society of America and KU Students for Life.

Unique Service Helps Clients Save Money on Document Imaging

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services continues to expand its record management services with Scan-on-demand. The service combines hard copy record storage and document scanning services providing clients with a highly cost-effective option to traditional back scanning services.

Scan-on-deman avoids the costly process of back scanning the entire box. The cost to back scan a box of files can cost $200-300 and that same file box can be stored for more than 60 years at this price. With scan-on-demand, a client's records are scanned as the records are requested from storage and then promptly transferred electronically to the client.

(Award winners chosen from more than 700 Kansas City area businesses

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services and ShredTime has been named to the Class of 2009 for the Eighth Annual 25 Under 25 Awards through KC Small Business magazine.

The distinct honor was decided by an independent panel of judges that selected 25 honorees from more than 700 nominated companies. The award honors 25 small businesses with less than 25 employees based on financial stability, ability to overcome obstacles, community involvement, distinguishing characteristics and company vision.

"We are delighted and honored to be recognized by our peers in the business community and very proud to be selected for the 2009 class of 25 Under 25," said Robert Rippentrop, president of Media Services and ShredTime. All nominated companies must employ fewer than 25 full-time employees, operate a for profit business for more than 3 years and be located in the greater Kansas City area. 9/26/2008 - Clark Appointed to Lenexa Chamber Board of Directors


(Kansas City, Mo.) - Kim Clark, Media Services & Shred Time account manager, has been named to the 2009 Lenexa Chamber Commerce Board of Directors. The leadership position is a two year term.

Clark has been heavily involved in the Lenexa community and chamber for more than 5 years. Prior to the board position, she has served on the Golf tournament committee and is a 2002 alum of Leadership Lenexa. Leadership Lenexa is an intensive 8-session program devoted to strengthening and educating area business and community leaders.

Former CEO strengthens management for Kansas City's only locally-owned, full-service record center

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Media Services and ShredTime has named industry veteran Bob Featherston, Jr. as vice president of sales and marketing for the 12 year old company.

Featherston brings considerable industry experience to Media Services and ShredTime. Prior to joining the team he was the CEO of Topeka, Kan.-based Jayhawk File Express where he lead the efforts to more than triple the size of the company in a short period of time. Along with generating considerable revenue growth, he lead several service expansions including document imaging and offsite data protection.

Featherston will be responsible for all sales and marketing efforts in Kansas City and other markets as the company expands. He will lead the strategic business development planning as the company continues double digit growth.

Featherston has a strong background in management, marketing and sales. Prior to Jayhawk File Express, Featherston managed key accounts for a Kansas City-based marketing communications firm and was also a political campaign manager. He is active in the records management industry and contributes time to his community through volunteer opportunities. He is a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
